Microsoft’s Windows 10 Version 1803 – called the “April update” was released April 30 after delays. This is a “feature update”, meaning it will take some time to install, and add new features-  including improvements to the Edge web browser; “Timeline” – which allows you to access views you had open in previous desktop sessions; and improvements to the update process.

We encourage you to work with us to keep your Windows 10 version current. Older versions are now unsupported.

 

The Google Chrome browser is now showing any sites not using HTTPS as “insecure”. They will also be tagging sites with SSL certificates that no longer meet security logging standards.

If a website is using a SSL/TLS certificate from Symantec that was issued before June 1, 2016, it will stop functioning in Chrome version 66. This may affect some banking and shopping sites. You may want to update your company website to avoid these issues.

SunTrust Banks has signed up its customers to identity protection services following the suspected theft of up to 1.5 million records by a former employee.

Localblox, a Bellevue, Wash. firm, says it “automatically crawls, discovers, extracts, indexes, maps and augments data in a variety of formats from the web.” The company has focused its collection on publicly accessible data sources, like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Zillow – among others – to produce profiles: who they are, what they talk about, what they like, even what they do for a living. The company accidentally left profile data on a public server without a password, allowing anyone to download its contents. The file listed 48 million individual records.

Sprint and T-Mobile have announced that they will merge. It still needs regulatory approval.
