Like many, we are anticipating how the Coronavirus will impact our business, and how we can serve our clients in the best way. We are watching developments and expect that the Visalia area will continue with closures to minimize potential virus exposure.
We are following all public health guidelines and the latest guidance from the CDC, including specific requirements that if employees are feeling unwell, they are not to report to work, as well as handwashing and disinfecting protocols.
Our goal is to assure the safety of our staff and clients while continuing to provide support to keep your computer systems working.
Because we typically travel from office to office, using your mice and keyboards, we are changing the way we work until the crisis passes.
We will remain open and respond to calls and email as usual.
We will restrict our office to essential staff. Many of us will be working regular hours from home.
We won’t be consulting with clients at our physical office.
We will do as much work remotely as possible. This may involve having one of your staff act as our hands and eyes onsite to resolve problems.
We will limit onsite visits to business-wide mission-critical emergencies that can’t be resolved remotely – such as a server failure – and only if all parties involved agree that it is safe. Our staff will be wearing gloves and following strict handwashing / disinfecting policies should the decision be made to go onsite. If the issue can’t be resolved with remote support, and you can work around the problem, we will delay fixing it until after the health emergency.
We will still accept deliveries and continue to order equipment for you.
We will continue to work on equipment at our office (delivered or handed off at the door) if it is mission-critical.
Should the area be under quarantine and staff is instructed to stay at home, we will still be able to provide remote support, take calls, and respond to email. We will not be going onsite.
If instructed, our physical office will be closed. This could delay product orders, and we would not be working on equipment in our office.
We are available to assist you with planning should you decide your staff will need to work remotely. Many of you are already set up for this.
Our clients who are signed up for maintenance can use the remote access tool, which is built into the agent installed on your computer. The tool will allow you and your staff to access your office computers from home computers. Contact us to get set up. There is no additional cost for this.
Microsoft is offering Teams for free. Teams provides video and audio collaboration, and the ability to share your desktop and collaborate with others. If you are not already using Teams, this may be a good fit to allow collaboration while not in the office.
Teams is available for free through a couple of different programs:
- Sign in with your work or school credentials at https://products.office.com/microsoft-teams. We’ll automatically route you to the version of Teams associated with your organization’s account, even if you don’t have a license.
- If your organization doesn’t have a Microsoft cloud account, sign up for the free version of Teams at https://products.office.com/microsoft-teams/free and invite your co-workers to join. To learn more, read Welcome to Teams free.
- If you work for a business and want to get employees set up on Teams, you can sign up for the six-month Office 365 E1 Trial offer through Torian Group.
Google users who are already signed up on G suite are being offered free access to the Advanced Hangouts software through July 1. Google Hangouts Meet allows video conferencing and document sharing.
